SAXON, Sanford S.
My gr gr grandfather, Sanford S. Saxon is said to have been born in Georgia. His parentage is unknown to me although family lore ( and precious little there is) says his father was a Baptist minister from Ireland who ministered to the indians and married an indian lady. Sanford is in the 1860 Butler Co., Ala. census, listed as S. S. Saxon, age 41. He is listed as working on the railroad. He has 4 children, names given as William, Jos., R. and Elizabeth. The mother is unknown. He married my gr gr gm in Butler Co. in 1860. She was Maranza Ann Adams of Robeson Co., N. Car. Sanford served the confederacy as a private in the 3rd Ala. Reserves. After the war he took his family to the Bastrop-Fayette Co. area of Texas. He and Maranza both died the first year in Texas, 1873, leaving 8 orphans. Place of burial unknown. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

SCOTT, Robert
I am searching for my gggrandfather and family. I know that Robert was born in SC on Nov. 12,1810 and died on August 13, 1877 in Falls Co., TX. He married in Gwinnett Co., GA before 1836. Their first child, John B. Scott, was born in Gwinnett Co., GA in 1836. Their 2nd son, Samuel Hunter Scott, was born March 12, 1837. I know that Robert is listed as the executor of his father's will in Gwinnett Co. His father was Samuel Scott and is listed there on the 1830 census.
I am in great need of the name of Robert's first wife and his mother. I know that his first wife died sometime after 1836 and before 1842. Robert remarried during the time period of 1841-42. His 2nd wife was Sarah Waits and 3rd wife was Arilla Elizabeth Childers. there were many more children born to these couples. We know there were at least 16 children in this large family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SMITH, George & Mattie
I am looking for Mattie and George Smith from Walton County Georgia and I haven't been able to come up with anything so hopefully someone can come up with something. Mattie and George had 5 children: 1. Ammie Briggery Smith 2. Rosetta Smith 3. Elizabeth Smith (my grandmother) 11/22/16-12/05/02 4. Robert Smith Sr. 5. Willie C Smith (d.2002. Elizabeth (grandmother) had 2 kids: 1. Joe H Smith Jr. (d.1998 in Indianapolis Indiana) and my mother Marcia A Smith(11/23/49-06/12/2004). I am trying to find someone that is left of the family and it is kinda hard. I have 3 children my self and I would like them to at least know their family history from the good to the bad. Hopefully someone with some clues to the information that I am looking for will step forward. All that I have been told is that our family is part Blackfoot Indian and that George was biracial with red hair and freckles. Mattie was a "wet nurse" for a while to. So hopefully with the information that I have laid out I can finally come across some family history.

Robert b. 183
Mary b. ? married a Herrington

My grandmother, Laura Frances was born Jan. 7 1854 in Macon Ga. She told my mother that she was orphaned when five years old and was brought up by her Aunt Tempy Smith. She was reunited with several of her siblings after she was married and had several children and was living in Graniteville, SC. and was married to Robert Edward Arthur. I would like to find out more about this family, particularly who her grandparents were. I would be grateful for any information on any of those listed.

SPEAR, Sims W,
was born ca 1825 in GA, County Unknown. He married AVY JANE CLIFTON BATES ca 1856 possibly in Cherokee County, Al. Sims W was found on the 1860 Cherokee County, AL census with a wife and two children. I have followed him to his death in California in 1900. Sims W is my maternal great grandfather. I have not been able to trace him back farther than the 1860 Al census. A person answered my posted query about Sims W. and said she had a letter from him to her grandfather, John B Spears. Her gggrandfather was Rawling or Rollin Spears. Rollin had a younger brother by the name of Sims Spears. His statistics don't seem to make him a candidate to be the father of Sims W. Sims W is listed as Rev Sims in CA. The church seems to be The Methodist Episcopalian Church South. The parents and siblings of Sims W are what I have been seeking for some time. Any help or suggestions would be very welcomed. Thanks.

SUMRALL, Enoch
Enoch Sumrall b.1812 in Georgia [married Celia 'Sally' Monk 1833 in Alabama] died 1893 in Vancleve, MS.
Enoch is reported on many family sites as being the son of Isaac and Mary Sumrall. Isaac is noted as a 'son' by his father Thomas who left cattle to 'Mary, the widow of my beloved son, Isaac' in his will. I NEED to connect by some documented source, that Isaac is the father of Enoch. Since Isaac is probably dead before Thomas' will was written in 1817, then it is probably safe to assume that Isaac died prior to 1817, probably in 1816. What happened to Isaac's wife and children? Did she perhaps remarry and the children take on the last name of the second husband? And, Isaac; if he is noted as the son of Thomas then he most certainly was born. {listed as b. 1774] but no documents that I can find for his death place or date. If Isaac is the father of Enoch like we think, then there must be a record someplace to show that fact. Anyone researching the Thomas, Isaac, Enoch, Henry, John M, SUMRALL family that can help?
